Angels
[/size]Angels are beings sent down from the heavens to guide and nurture those on the side of good. Many help humans and supernaturals sort through the problems in their lives and help stem the tide of darkness that periodically seems to wash up on Earth. While many wish only to maintain the balance between good and evil till the coming of the Apocalypse, others take a more active role in the lives of those on Earth.
Traditionally, angels are beings (both good and or supernatural) who did good deeds in their past lives or who sacrificed themselves for the greater good. Many, upon crossing over to the light will find that their greater purpose has yet to be revealed. It is with this in mind that most angels start out as "Newly Winged" angels. This means they have to earn their wings by helping others. Typically, an Angel's strengths and weaknesses in life follow them through in the afterlife and can color their interactions with others. This is not without some planning however, because often one of the tasks of a newly winged angel is to not only to help others but to learn about themselves in the process. As it was once said "To love another person is to see the face of God." and this is quite true of angels. They genuinely love mankind although they may not love the choices that mankind makes.
Typically an angel starts out with three powers:
- Sensing - The ability to see what a being is. That inner knowing that helps an angel navigate the word also helps them find a charge if they have need of it. Some would say its instinct others would say its their gut, but angels tend to think of it as that little voice that The Powers That Be use to speak to them with.
- Teleportation - The ability to go from one place to the other through none normal means. New Winged Angels do not have traditional wings and so must teleport everywhere to access difficult areas. As they earn their wings they must learn how to fly as teleportation is only the "training wheels" of a true angel.
- Healing - Most angels have the ability to heal the injured. Although they cannot resurrect the dead, they are capable of healing the injured but only by taking on that person or being's pain. You cannot understand what it is like to care if you do not know what suffering is like and this is what this gift is meant to symbolize.
The last two gifts an angel receives are often tied to their nature. These are meant to be discovered by the angel themselves during the course of their lives unless there is a great need. Another thing of note is that angels are often sent down in pairs. While it is possible and sometimes necessary for angels to work alone generally they have a partner that is more of a bondmate or soulmate. Although romantic attachments may form and are not frowned upon, this does not necessarily mean a romantic attachment has to exist.
