Werewolves
Even a man who is pure of heart, and says his prayers at night may become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms and the autumn moon is bright...
There have been many tales and stories that circulate around lycanthropes, more commonly known as werewolves, but in truth, werewolves are not exactly the creatures portrayed in movies. While it is true that werewolves transform under the full moon, they do not attack and kill hapless bystanders. A werewolf is not evil, unless the person who is bitten is evil. The transformation, itself is not really painful either. In truth, a werewolf does not even HAVE to transform under the full moon, but it is incredibly hard to resist the urge to. It is the equivalent of having an intense itch and not scratching it. Eventually, you have to scratch it, or you'll be in a world irritability, and the transformation itself is the equivalent of the relief given from scratching the itch. It is only during the three nights of the full moon, however, that a werewolf can transform, however when there is no full moon, they can still sprout fangs and claws, or shift eye color when their emotions peak, which can be often, given that werewolves can be grouchy creatures.
Certain, mental traits of werewolves include:
- Increased irritability
- An extremely high sexual libido
- Alpha-domninant personality (A real Alpha werewolf's is much more intense)
- Predator-like courting of people they lust after
- A powerful appetite, especially for meat (preferably bloody)
The most common weaknesses for werewolves, are silver and fire. While they can handle silver easily, if it enters their bloodstream, then it can be potentially fatal, resulting in death from anywhere between minutes, or hours. Although silver is fatal to them, the effects of silver poisoning can be counter-acted through the ingestion of monkshood, more commonly known as wolfsbane, or inhaling of the pollen from the plant. The plant must be administered before the werewolf dies, or else the fatal effects of silver poisoning will be irreversible.
The most common abilities for werewolves are:
- Peak Physical Fitness: Werewolves are only superhumanly powerful during the three nights of the full moon, however whenever there is not a full moon, their strength, endurance, agility, speed, reflexes, durability, and healing at at the highest possible point of the human potential. Only when the moon is full, are their abilities increased ten fold.
- Enhanced Senses: Even in their human form, a werewolf has far superior senses to a human, capable of smelling and hearing things from mere blocks away.
- Immortality: The lifespan of a werewolf is potentially limitless, as they cannot age, nor die from conventional means. The only real way to kill them is by silver, or fire.
Alphas and Betas
There are two types of werewolves in the world. The most common are Betas, who display all of the above abilities, but only transform into a unnaturally large wolf underneath the full moon. The more less common werewolves are Alpha wolves, who are far more evolved than regular werewolves. Unlike their Beta counterparts, Alpha werewolves transform into a more humanoid form of a wolf, with a bipedal structure, muscular physique, and more powerful abilities in comparison. An additional power that an Alpha has, is their ability to essentially command Betas, and enforce their will upon them.
