She'd gotten the politely worded note to go to Trenton's home and she still didn't know what to make of it. All she knew was that his carriage had arrived and she was being driven to his home.
It was a short drive really. One that seemed more a blink than anything else. Soon she was ushered into the house with a flurry of activity. Who knew there were so many people in his home with heartbeats? She always thought he preferred solitude. It didn't help that everyone was silent on letting her know what was going on. They simply dissappeared as quick as they came. The maids almost giddy and happy talking about taking care of things for later in the evening.
As if she intended to be here that long. With a tired exhale she waited by the fire, her dress had been looked over and she felt a bit self concious. The maids had whispered to themselves and then without a word said they would be ready when needed.
She heard footsteps and turned seeing Trent enter, "Trent, what is going on? Everyone's acting like they know something I don't." she said quietly as she folded her hands before her and then remembered that she should be less direct, "Forgive me, my lord. I was raised in America its a bit more...blunt." she added after a moment.

Trenton had been busy trying to find information on the woman he had run into the previous night. However, none of his servants had been able to find anything. I wonder what her story is, he thought to himself. But it would appear that she was the proverbial ghost. Lovely, he thought to himself. But then again, it would not be a total disappointment. He had asked his servants to pick her up and bring her to his home so that he could get to know her. He didn't know why, but she intrigued him and he wanted to know all about her.
Presently, he heard the sound of the carriage coming and went to the door. When Marina got there, she demanded to know what was going on, causing Trenton to raise an eyebrow curiously. "That is...rather outspoken," he stated as she apologized, saying that she was from America and that they were used to being blunt. Well, that makes sense I suppose, he thought to himself. He had heard that Americans were a vulgar lot, but the woman sure were pretty if this woman was anything to go by. "It is quite all right. I find a woman who speaks her mind to be very...refreshing," he responded. Tonight would be interesting, that was for sure.

Mari blushed as crimson as her dress. She'd been trying to learn the mores of this time period but with ten years of Trent telling her to speak her mind it was hard to return to being quiet and not saying what she felt. The hat she wore didn't help either. She longed to have her hair down and not piled on her head like some exquisite creation. She was having a hard enough time in the dress. She was being scandalous because she didn't want to wear a corset. The red garment kept her warm enough to be sure but it was so confining. She exhaled softly and ducked her head, " Forgive me, my Lord. In my time you've spent years telling me to be honest and speak my mind. To suddenly change that..." she trailed off and bit her lip, shaking her head slightly and letting the thoughts die where they were. He didn't know her in this time she had no right to assume anything about him. His behavior in her time had proven how little she knew him. She didn't want to risk making a mistake again. " I'm a bit at a loss as to what to say..." she admitted softly. She folded her hands in front of her, " I could say that its rather...American of you to invite an unmarried woman to your home at night." she quipped a bit before she went silent once more, " I may be bold it is true but your nature makes you just as brazen." she said sincerely. 'Take that and stuff it. she thought to herself with an internal smirk, " Putting me at a disadvantage then calling me outspoken for remarking on it. Of all the cheek!" the last thought she sent to him directly. She was not going to pretend to be something she wasn't. She idly wondered what his reaction would be to her dialogue. She may have been at a disadvantage but she wasn't going to cave like some docile pet. She was scared, she wouldn't deny that but to deny her nature and be something she wasn't wasn't fair to either of them. Besides she hated these clothes and this stupid hat. She'd had the darn thing planted on her head and she wanted to drop it outside to be used as a cat toy. But good ladies of breeding didn't do such things. All she knew was this hat could feed a family of four for a week. It disgusted her that while some people starved she was wearing a damn dead bird on her head.

Trenton watched as she ducked her head, apologizing and saying that in her time, he had been telling her to speak her mind and that it was hard to change that. What is she talking about? he wondered. Was she some sort of time traveler? If so, what other kind of powers did she have? DId he need to be on his guard around her? When she admitted that she didn't know what to say, he shrugged. "You do not have to say anything if you do not wish to," he told her. He then chuckled as she said that it was "American" of him to invite an unmarried woman into his home at night and that he was brazen. "Well I do not care what others think, but if you are worried about your reputation..." he said, letting the sentence trail off. Not that he cared really, but he would have to make believe that he did.
His eyes widened when he got her mental thought. "I'm cheeky? You didn't tell me you had telepathy, you naughty vixen," he scolded. He couldn't wait to hear the explanation for this...

"I want you to feel comfortable with me, My Lord and that can only happen if questions are answered." she said with a soft smile, "You've always been stronger than myself." she said as she glanced up at him from under her hat.
"If I am worried about my reputation, what, My Lord?" she raised an eyebrow in utter confusion. "Your statement and tone indicate there is more to your statement that you are not saying." she folded her hands and ducked her head as she bit her lip, she didn't know this Trent at all. She had no idea what he would ask and she had no father to scare him into behaving.
'You did not ask, My Lord. And I rather like being called a vixen it makes me feel pretty.' she thought at him with a smile and blush, 'I became telepathic with you from the bond that formed from you feeding from time to time. I bear your mark on my neck..." she mentally blushed but bowed her neck instinctively. She didn't know if he would look but it was a simple thing to move her collar slightly to see it if he wished his mark as well as any recent feeding marks visible, his scent being the only one close to the bite proving that no one else had fed from her. "You marked me two months after we met. You and my father arraigned for me to marry you. You marked me to show that we were betrothed. At least I think that was why you did it. My understanding may be off a bit as I am not a vampire. she said softly as she glanced up at him from under her down turned lashes.
She remained still, letting him examine what he chose to or not. Moving as he might need her to and not fighting any contact. She did not want to trigger his instincts negatively and so kept her movements slow and as calm as she could. Even her blinking was slowed, showing her attempt to be calm. She lapsed into silence, waiting for any questions.

Trenton nodded as Marina stated that she wanted him to feel comfortable with her and that it could only happen if questions were answered. "Quite right," he agreed. And boy, did he ever have questions! Though he would never admit it to anyone else, Trenton could easily admit to himself that Marina intrigued him and he wanted to know all that he could about her. Not that there seemed to be anything to be found out...which just made Marina all the more curious and Trenton all the more intrigued with the young woman who was now standing in front of him, decked out in the height of the fashion of their times. His brow furrowed in confusion when she added that he had always been stronger than her. What in the world did that mean? How come she was constantly speaking as if they had known each other all their lives? He had no memories of his life of a human and yet...Could she be someone from my past? he wondered. But if that was so, how come she had waited all this time to make herself known to him?
His next statement seemed to confuse her and he gave her an apologetic look as she told him that he had indicated with his tone and mannerisms that there was more to what he was saying. "My apologies, Miss Sinclair. I merely meant that if you were worried about how others may perceive you because of the late visit, I can always ring for one of my servant girls to chaperone us so that no one would think no ill towards you. Or if you would be more comfortable, I can find you a place that would be more suitable to your liking for our excursion," he responded. Not that any other place would be any better, but there would be less gossip if she was not in his home. The last thing he wanted was for her to think that he was looking to sully her reputation. With anyone else, he would not care, but there was something about her...
Trenton chuckled at her mental response. That was fair enough. He had not asked. But...how was she conversing with him telepathically? Was this something that she was able to do with everyone? Had she been branded a witch or demon and that was why she was in London now? Then, his jaw dropped slightly. This was possible because of him? He had fed from her? When? He did not remember doing any such thing with her. Frowning thoughtfully, he racked his brain through the years, but nothing came to mind. As far as I know, we have never met,[/i] he told her.
At the news that she bore his mark, Trenton stepped forward even as Marina positioned herself in a way that would allow him to see for himself whether or not she was telling him the truth. As he stepepd closer, he caught the lingering traces of his own scent on her and when he looked closely, he could see his initials carved ever so elegantly on her white neck. "When did I do this?" he wondered. "And how come I do not recall doing this?" he added, his voice a bit suspicious, but not harsh. After all, she had the mark of a mate and one must never hurt their mate, a rule that Trenton had always tried to adhere to on the rare occasions that he marked someone.

"You know as well as I do no mortal can hear what we have to say. I shall just have to count on your discretion in regards to this matter." she said simply.
"I'm from the future. Of course we have not met. I first can recall meeting you when I was 26. It was outside a library. I was waiting for my father to bring the carriage around and you offered to wait with me. At first you wanted to make a meal of me but for some reason you didn't. You've never understood why you did not. After that I ran into you sporadically and you spoke with my father about marrying me. I'm not privy to the details of the exchange; I just know my father announced I was to marry you and you were going to court me." She exhaled softly.
"You did it after you and my father spoke about the marriage arraingement. About two months after I met you." she said softly as she felt how close he was, "It happens in the future. The reason you can't recall doing it is that you haven't done it, yet." she said softly as she looked up at him.

At her response, Trenton nodded. So, no one could hear them, could they? That was certainly interesting. "Of course, I will be as discreet as possible," he promised. The last thing he desired was to sully this woman's reputation. After all, a woman like her probably wouldn't last long in this city...especially with his hunting habits.
Then, his eyes widened at her revelation. "The future?" he gasped. Was it possible? It sounded unbelievable, but from what she said---how they met, how he had talked to her father and the arrangement that they had made---it was true. It is---I am overwhelmed, he thought to himself. He could not believe that he knew someone from the future. But he had to admit, it was kind of cool. Maybe she could tell him if he ever got caught and how so that he would know how to avoid making the mistake that led to his capture.

"I appreciate that, my lord." she bobbed her head gently, to him and continued to stand next to him as they talked of how she knew him "Servants blab and I really don't want Vasile finding out my movements. Its because of him I'm even here and I would really like to not impose on people because of everything that has happened." she said gently as she looked at him and bowed her head respectfully. She did take a bit of liberty in sitting but then the clothes of this century were very wearing on her. She just wanted to take this hat off and let her hair down. The hair pins were killing her. She fanned herself a bit. She could see why women went to bed so early if they had to wear clothing like this.
"I do not mean to overwhelm you. I am sorry." she said softly as she tried to get comfortable. She was cinched in and hated it. "The clothing of this era is a bit...confining. I find it hard to breathe." she said softly to explain her wiggling. She didn't want him to think it was his company so much as her corset was making it hard for her.

Trenton then nodded in response to her polte nod. "You are very welcome," he responded and then smiled as she went on to say that servants tended to blab and that she didn't want Vasilie to be able to track her and that it was because of him that she was here. "Really? How did he accomplish this?" he queried. If the Vampire King had mastered time travel, perhaps he could learn how to do so as well. Of course, he'd have to really make nice with him. But it would most likely be worth it. "And it is no imposition," he assured.
He then shook his head at her next comment. "It is no imposition," he assured and then hid a smile at her explanation for the fidgeting. "Yes, I will admit that some of the fashions of this time are somewhat impractical," he agreed. Which was why he had compelled his maids to wear whatever they felt was comfortable for themselves while they were in his abode. Out in society, they had to do what they were told, but here, they were relatively free to do whatever they wanted...and as a bonus, he had a free blood supply. Yeah, life was good...

She tried to relax and listened a moment, "One of his wives cast a time travel spell on me. I think they wanted to get you alone. They sort of...barged in on us at one point. They acted like I was ignorant." she said with a flush to her cheeks, "And asked if I was food." she rubbed her arms at the memory and flushed.
"I'm not used to all of this." she said simply, "The dresses are a lot simpler in my time." she said softly as she looked at him. She sighed and rubbed the back of her neck to ease some tension there. She was starting to get a headache from her hair, "Did you have any questions to ask me?" she asked him as she looked up at him, "We did meet at rather unfortunate circumstances. And the papers are touting your latest kill in the papers. So what does the infamous "Jack the Ripper" want with me? she asked him mentally, "You don't strike me as someone who needs many people, My lord.[/color]

Trenton's visage was thoughtful as Marina explained that one of the vampire king's wives had cast a spell and that they had probably wanted to get him alone, adding that they had barged in on the two of them once, asking if she was food. As she said this last bit, Trenton noted that she rubbed her arms, flushing. "Somehow I have the feeling that you would not stay around me if you were merely a meal to me," he commented. Which was true. Trenton wasn't sure why, but he could sense that this woman had more spunk than most people were used to.
When Marina went on to explain that she wasn't used to the clothing as the dresses were more simple in her time, Trenton nodded once more. "By all means, make yourself comfortable here," he stated, noticing her rubbing the back of her neck. "If the hair style is a bother, fix it to your liking," he encouraged. He wanted the woman to be at ease here and that wouldn't be possible if she were uncomfortable.
When she asked if he had any questions, he nodded. "Just one: what am I to you where you are from?" he wondered. Then, he flushed at the rmental eminder that their meeting wasn't ideal and that his latest kill was in the papers, wondering what he could want with her. "I must confess, I am intrigued by you, Miss Sinclair," he responded out loud. He wanted to know as much about this woman as he possibly could. Hopefully, she wouldn't mind answering his questions.

"If you tried to make me a meal I'd stab you in your kidney and force you to eat it." she said simply with a shrug, "I grew up on the rough side of the tracks. My father didn't really come into money until I was fourteen. I learned to take care of myself." she said simply with a shrug as she looked at him with a raised eyebrow and smile. She wasn't going to pretend to be harmless.
She looked at him and raised an eyebrow, "If I took my hair down you would never get it back into something respectable again. Its held up by so many pins its a wonder I can move." she said honestly as she looked at him a bit suspiciously. She didn't trust him to give him an opening. She wouldn't lie but she also knew he was sneaky.
"Well its complicated. We've run into each other throughout history. I'm immortal but my nature and yours are opposite. I'm an angel and you're a vampire. I've looked out for you in your human life and throughout your vampiric life but your memory is sporadic. I've been trying to help you recall your memories. As for what you are to me; its complicated, I didn't want to finalize anything one way or the other till you remembered who you were. It doesn't do me any good to marry you if your memories return and you hate me or resent something I did. Its not fair to you. That and technically you and I are not supposed to be that close. There are those that believe we are too close. They see you as a distraction and feel that you treat me like a trophy or piece of meat."
She exhaled, "All I know is that I was your guardian angel and I failed you. I've been trying to make up for that failure and help you. Many of your kind and mine see this as futile and wasteful and against how things should be. I just know that you've asked for my help and I can't turn my back on that. I do have other tasks of course and I do them but some people are still jealous of the time I give you."

Trenton couldn't help the chuckle that escaped when Marina stated that she would attack him if he tried to make a meal out of her. "Why am I not surprised?" he queried. And it was true. Something told him that her response to him had been typical and truth be told, he rather liked her spunk. She was definitely a lot more interesting than the simpering females he was usually surrounded by. It was nice to be on equal footing with a lady for once. He then nodded at her explanation. "And that is where the spunk comes from," he surmised. She did not let anyone push her around, he liked that. This woman was exciting...interesting...
When she countered that if she messed with her hair, she'd never get it manageable again, he let out another smile, even as she went on to say that it was a wonder that she could move given the fact that the style was held up by numerous pins. "Yes, well, I was not the one who came up with this fashion, though it is nice to look at," he responded with a grin. Of course, the main reason he liked it was because it gave him ample access to his victim's neck---not that he was going to tell her this.
This thought was cut off as Marina stated that they had a complicated history and that though they were both immortal, their natures clashed, their relationship was complicated, and that she didn't want to finalize anything until he had his memories back, which were being sporadic and that she was trying to help him with it. He nodded. That made sense. Then, a part of what she had said registered in his brain. "I have been getting my memories back?" he asked in interest. It was no secret among the vampire community that he knew nothing about his human life and only remembered being a vampire, something that had always bothered him. When he heard that they weren't supposed to be together and that others thought of her as a distraction and was thought of being viewed as a piece of meet, he frowned. "And do I---treat you as such?" he queried. He wasn't sure why, but that bothered him for some reason.
She then let out a sigh and went on to explain that she was a type of guardian angel but had failed and that both of their kind saw their time together as being useless. "And why is that?" he asked. "If you are receiving so much negative advice about my company, why do you keep it?" he clarified in case the question had confused her.

"Well I think its safe to say that I am able to defend myself." she admitted to him with a chuckle and smile as she shrugged. She looked over at him and laughed, "Pretty, yes but I read that thought, My Lord. I'd have thought you would have fed enough by now." she said in a playful tone as she looked up at him. This didn't stop him from doing anything of course, but it showed him how used to speaking with him she was.
"You do get your memories back but its slow in coming. I'm not sure why but I try to help." There was just so much she wanted to tell him but didn't know how, "You get possessive. And at times are quick to snap to judgement. It can make things more difficult than they need to be." she said gently as she looked at him and bit her lip. "I understand its part of your nature but sometimes it makes me uncomfortable." she admitted softly to him.
"Because you try your best. You don't always succeed but you keep trying and because all my life people have told me what to do or how to think and I just want to help people not judge them. I realize its foolish but when you've never had a chance to have your opinions valued it makes you cling to them all the more. I'm probably being defiant just for the sake of it but I just see the world differently. Its easy to love someone who agrees with you. Loving someone who doesn't? That's the true test in my mind."
