Mike walked into the bar and sat down, ordering a beer. What a day. It had been a bit crazier than he was used to. It was one of those days that made you wonder if what you were doing was worth it. First, he had slept through his alarm, resulting in him being late for work. Then he had realized that a file that he been intending to give to the mayor's office had gone missing. After that, things seemed to just go from bad to worse with him having to deal with combative suspects and the people he was trying to protect reacting ungratefully. Well, I always knew there would be days like this, he thought to himself.
When his beer finally came, Mike paid the bartender, opened the can, and took a swig, trying to forget what had happened earlier in the day. Man, it's days like this I wish I had someone to go home to, he thought to himself. Yeah, he had dated on and off in the last ten years, but he hadn't found anyone serious. Maybe I'm setting my standards too high, he thought to himself as he took a swig of his beer. Maybe he should just find someone to hook up with. Then, he mentally shook his head. Was he nuts? One night stands were usually trouble and that was the last thing that he needed.
Presently, he was aware of a man sitting down next to him. "Hey," the man greeted. "Hi," Mike responded. "What brings you here?" the man wondered as Mike took a drink. The officer shrugged. "Just needed some down time," he replied. Which was true. He desperately needed what he privately coined as a "Five minute time out". It was his way of relaxing. "Don't we all? Don't we all?" the man asked with a chuckle and Mike nodded in agreement as he glanced over at his seatmate. The guy was a little older than him and they were both older than the club's usual clientele, reasonably attractive but didn't really seem to be his type. Mike gave a mental shrug and then turned back to his beer.
Once his beer was finished, Mike signaled for another, and the bartender obliged him, receiving more money from Mike. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the other man look around and then finally stand up and walk over to a table where a woman was sitting. I guess he decided to go for it, he mused to himself as he saw them shaking hands. Not that he had seen the woman when he had first come in. After all he hadn't really been looking. Mike opened the beer and took another swig. Then, he turned around, glancing at the various club goers, trying to decide if anyone was his type.

Gabriel had a late party experience and his head was killing him which was odd as he had a very high tolerance to alcohol and pain in general as a demon. Gabriels usual remedy for this was to drink more and distract himself with some form of entertainment. Unable to find his jacket as he usually ended up losing things at parties he simply decided to go with it unbuttoning his shit a bit at the top, doing up his hair, and throwing on some shades then rolled out to the nearest bar looking as good as he imagined he always did. Gabriel walked in and slid his sun glasses off and into his front pocket finding his way to the front bar. There were already some people there but it wasn't really busy, a shame, but Gabriel just needed to burn time until the bigger clubs opened up or to stumble upon a party. Gabriel smiled enticingly at the bartender, his alluring ocean blue eyes could melt a heart simply by its piercing gaze, and his seductive smile would leave most breathless in awe. His natural beauty was debatably unnatural ironically, yet he held very strong male features too, not a very burly man but muscular for his size and ripped if you had the luxury of witnessing his perfect abs. His tanned skin was always just right, never too bronze, but never too light. Coupled with his overabundance of confidence and carefree demeanor and his supernatural aura that attracted people to him Gabriel could be a very pleasing sight even to those who would otherwise have no interest. Countless times had straight men fell to his charm, lesbians turn bi, and married men and woman give into their temptations as if their ethical code and vows meant nothing. This was something Gabriel often reveled for often. None the less his words rolled off his tongue ever so perfectly with a soft tone and sweet mannered "Beautiful as ever Jess. I was in here just last week and over heard you complaining about how you couldn't do anything with that hair. You should be happy to know my opinion hasn't faltered in your new style but I can't say I didn't like just fine before." Gabriel gave a friendly wink as he finished. The bartender smiled back a little embarrassed "Well I appreciate that Gabriel but like I said before you arn't exactly one I will be taking advice from on hair styles as you seem to lack any particular one. I'll say it again, do you even comb it or just see what you wake up to." Gabriel chuckled faintly and replied playfully "Oh is that right? I happen to know that I have exceptional taste in how go about my hair and frankly you can't get hair like this by using a comb it just doesn't work." The bartender rolled her eyes and asked what Gabriel wanted "The usual? Rum and coke?" Gabriel nodded and the bartender began to make his drink. She added while making his drink "Dave was in here a couple days ago asking about you. It seems you had some wild night?" Gabriel had an expression on his face one gets when they see that person they slept with out of being too intoxicated and now that person thinks your dating. Gabriel grinned and simply replied "I have no idea what he is talking about." The bartender saw his look and added kindly "Don't hurt him Gabe I know how you can be sometimes." Gabriel rolled his eyes now "Oh please Jess, I am always a gentlemen you know first hand, and I am the nicest guy anyone can have the pleasure of meeting. I made one mistake and now it seems its going to haunt me forever. I have 32 missed calls from him you know that? Thirty. Two! And how exactly did he get my number I wonder hmm?" The bartender innocently shrugged as she handed Gabriel his drink and went to walk away then paused and turned back to Gabriel and asked curiously "How is it of all the times you have been here you have never paid for a drink." Gabriel had a devilsh grin on his face as he shrugged once more and replied pridefully "What can I say, people seem to enjoy paying my tab. I guess its one of the many pleasures of my life." Gabriel pulled out a twenty from his pocket and slid it to Jess, more than enough for the single drink and a nice tip. "There, cycle is broken. Cheers" Gabriel said as he raised his glass slitely and took a sip. The bartender walked off and continued her job and Gabriel looked at a newspaper that was left on the counter half interested.

Mike was still drinking his beer and perusing the crowd when the man came in, causing him to do a double-take. Whoa! So cute! he thought to himself. However, he forced himself to tear his eyes away as the man flirted with the bartender, calling her by her first name---Jess---saying that she was cute as ever and that her hairstyle was fine. Smooth. Very smooth, Mike thought to himself as the woman countered him saying that he seemed to lack style and merely brushing it before she changed the topic saying that he better not hurt someone named Dave. He's involved. Of course, the cop thought with a silent sigh. It made sense. Someone who looked like this guy was bound to get snatched up in a hurry. However, Gabe---as Jess had called him---was quick to reply and from the sounds of it it had just been a one-night stand that his partner for the night had taken too seriously. Okay, so not my type, Mike mused. He wasn't into one-night stands like this guy obviously was, though he couldn't deny that he was attractive. "Sounds like a classic stalker to me," he said when Gabe mentioned that the man had somehow gotten his numbers and had called him thirty-two times. Realizing he had interrupted their conversation, he threw them an apologetic grin. "Sorry. Didn't mean to butt in," he told them and then went back to his drink.
Then he had to hide a smile as the man and the woman continued to banter back and forth, the bartender mentioning that the man had come in numerous times and had never paid for a drink. However, the man soon brought out a twenty and paid the bartender, claiming the cycle to be broken and the bartender walked off to some other customers as the man glanced down at the newspaper.. "So you're pretty smooth," Mike said to the man. He wasn't sure if he liked that or not.
