"Yes, you certainly can," Trenton confirmed when Marina said that she liked teasing him because she could get away with it. When she went on to say that he had an unfair advantage in shutting down her arguments as she curled up next to him, he looked at her in confusion. "What do you mean, Bella?"
Then she leaned up and kissed him as she assured him that he was one of her blessings. He then chuckled when she commented that they had known each for for a long time by some standards though not long by other standards. "This is true and I am glad that we have known each other for so long," he told her as she sighed happily. And it was true. Marina was one of the few humans that he cared about. He would not let anyone harm her and if anyone tried, the consequences would be severe. He mentally shook off these thoughts and went to pull the woman closer to him.

Laughing softly she buried herself under the blanket some more and pulled it up around her. Its brown shades still soft after gentle washings. It had been one of the first things she had left here and it always made her happy. Winter in L.A. wasn't severe by a lot of standards, but a light blanket kept the chill off. "I mean that you can always bite me to distract me from an argument." she chuckled softly, "Hense the "unfair advantage" factor."
"I am too." she said as she sensed him a bit uneasy and rubbed his arm as he held her closer, "What is it, Trent?" she asked him gently as she looked up at him with half lidded eyes and smiled. She was mostly happy. That dull ache of Logan's death never went away but if you were distracted it sometimes made it bearable. She stifled a yawn as they laid there. Her eyes blinking slowly.

At Marina's mention of him using his claim mark to stop an argument, Trenton had the grace to look embarrassed. "I apologize Bella. I realize that is not fair," he told her. He was about to say more when he tensed. There was something off, but he could not figure out what. Marina asked him what was wrong, rubbing his wrist. "I...do not know. There is just...something off in the air," he answered, his eyes clouding. He didn't like knowing what was going on. When he did not know what was going on, he could not protect Marina properly. Protectively, he went to wrap his arms around Marina. No matter what happened, she would be protected. No matter what...

"I appreciate that." she said gently as she looked up at him and noticed his tension. "Trent, what is going on? Are you okay?" she asked him softly as she could sense he was worried. She turned in his arms and laid on top of him so she could see his reactions and figure out what was going on, she stared into his eyes and touched his cheek.
"I'm not going to leave, Trenton. You don't need to worry." she said softly as she felt his arms go around her and she hugged him back. She rested her head on his shoulder and his mark showed, as she relaxed, "Everything I have is in L.A. And I'm not going to be vacationing any time soon." she nuzzled his chest lightly as she rested there.

As Marina turned in Trenton's arms, his eyes clouded. He could feel something---another presence of someone like him. "The air is heavy," he replied to her question. "I believe that there may be others who are coming," he continued with a frown. Others who might wish you harm, he thought to himself. And there was no way he would let anything happen to her.
At her assurance that she wasn't going anywhere, he went to pull her close. Feeling a slight presence in his head, he gave a mental warning growl and put up mental blocks. Then, he forced himself to relax as she leaned against him. He had to calm down. He had a feeling that he was starting to worry her and he didn't want to do that. To reassure her and himself, he leaned his head slightly down to place a chaste kiss on Marina's shoulder.

"Well the best way to deal with that is to just relax a little bit and let your instincts tell you what you need to know. Worrying at it just causes stress." she says softly as she looked into his eyes and picked up on his concern, "I will be careful, Trent." she said simply as she rubbed his arm lightly and smiled, her nightgown sliding off one shoulder as she relaxed with him.
Pressing against him lightly as he pulled her closer she sighed happily, her eyes half lidded as they relaxed on his couch, she purred softly as he kissed her shoulder and curled into him, in that niche that he usually made for her. Her chin resting on his shoulder as she placed an arm over him to rest.

Trenton smiled softly at Marina's advice to not worry and just relax, letting his instincts take over. She was right. If he obsessed over it, he would just become stressed out. And that was the last thing either of them needed. He felt himself relaxing even more as she rubbed his shoulder slightly and assured him that she would be careful. Then, she made herself comfortable, laying on top of him and closing her eyes. Satisfied that she was resting, Trenton reached out with his own mind, trying to see if he could pinpoint the presence that had tried to invade his thoughts. He had to figure out who was here so that he could keep the woman safe. There was no way he was going to let anyone hurt her. Never again...

Resting her head on Trenton's shoulder Mari did her best to give him emotional support. She could tell he was trying to sort out something that was bothering him so she left it to him, just occasionally rubbing his torso with her hand to let him know she was there.
As she relaxed she looked up confused, it felt like someone was running their fingers through her hair. "Trent??" she said with a confused quiver in her voice. The feeling just felt wrong and cold and it made her shake her head gently. She shivered a bit as she felt the presence seem to grow in the room.
<< Don't fret so pet. It causes wrinkles...>> The presence in her mind said softly to her.
Jerking up she looked around, "Trent, who is that? They're trying to talk to me." she said as she hugged Trent tighter and clung to him, her eyes showing her fear as she looked up at him and shivered.

Trenton had been convinced that his feeling was all in his head until Marina spoke his name in confusion. "What is it, Bella?" Trenton asked as she shook her head. To his surprise, she jerked up and stated that someone was trying to talk to. Trenton frowned. He had not heard anything, which meant that a telepath or someone with telepathic abilities had contacted Marina. His eyes flashing, Trenton aimed his thoughts towards Marina. Do not fret, Bella. I am here, he mentally assured. He did not want her to get frightened by yet another presence in her head, which is why he had used his name for her.
As Marina shivered, Trenton stood up and held his hand out to her. "Come, Bella. We'll go to my room. Perhaps I can figure out a way to get this interloper out of your head," he stated.

"I don't like this. I don't know who that is. I don't recognize his voice." she said softly as she looked into his eyes and then shifted when he went to move. She moved to a sitting position, pulling her nightgown right. The white Victorian gown being perfectly modest but still making her grab up the light robe that she wore with it. Slipping it on as he moved off the couch to stand next to him. She hugged him and buried her head in his chest as she tried to block out the other presence with her abilities. She hadn't even felt anyone in her head with the exception of Trent in almost ten years and it scared her deeply.
I recognize your mind voice, Trent this other person is just scary.[/color] she said softly as she looked into his eyes and spoke to him telepathically, I don't like strangers in my head. He scares me, Trenton. she said softly to him as she hugged him tighter.
Taking his hand she followed him to his room, "Alright. He just bothers me. I'm not used to people I don't know talking to me in my head. There has only been you and my father and my father is not here so..." she let her voice trail off as she followed him and her bunny slippers made soft padded sounds on the floor. All she had wanted to do was fall asleep with him there next to her. She looked around the room shyly. This room felt somehow more personal and she didn't know what to do once she was inside it. If it had been her own she would have curled up in bed and hugged him tightly as it was, she just hugged him as they walked and waited while he decided what to do next.

Trenton frowned when Marina admitted that she didn't like what was going on and that she didn't recognize the new voice. I wonder if it is someone she has just met and that is why she does not recognize him, he mused to himself, trying to remember if there were any faces that were completely new to both him and Marina.
As she hugged him and buried her face in his chest, Trenton went to put his arms around her comfortingly and relaxed when she assured him that she recognized his mental voice. When they headed for his room, Marina told him that she wasn't used to having people besides Trenton and her father in her head. "Yes, I understand that it must be frightening for you," he sympathized. Now then, I am pretty sure I have some herbs that diminish one's mental voice in another's head, he thought to himself. But where had he put them? He looked through his room, trying to see if he could find the herbs that he had gotten from a witch when he had desired to break a telepath's connection to him.

Hugging him and nodding she shivered, "My cousin could read people but he couldn't project his thoughts." she said softly as her shoulders slumped gently, "I don't like this Trent. Whoever that was said "Don't frown, pet. It causes wrinkles."" she shivered again and walked around the room to distract herself as much as she could.
She peeked around as Trent puttered about his room for something or other. Mari peeked about like a little kid at Christmas trying to find where the parents hid the presents. She didn't touch anything of course, she just peered about. She didn't like the feel of things in the area. It wasn't Trent's room or home per sec so much as it was something outside of it. She walked over to him as she noticed he was looking for something and then looked at him, "What are you looking for?" she asked softly as she tried to figure out what she should be doing while she waited.
She plopped down on the edge of the bed more out of habit than anything else. Flopping back lazily and peering up at him as she tried to calm herself by surrounding herself with his scent and things.

Trenton nodded in acknowledgement when Marina said that her cousin had been able to read people, but not project things. "That must have been a useful survival skill," he commented. After all, if you could read your opponent, you would be able to ascertain how to counter any move they could make, thus ensuring a better survival rate. He then frowned when Marina admitted that she didn't like what was happening and that whoever was communicating with her had told her not to fret saying it caused wrinkles.
Trenton couldn't blame Marina for being worried. If the situations were reversed, he was almost sure that he'd act the same way. And he didn't like this guy calling Marina "Pet". Yes, he understood that for humans, it was a form of endearment---not that he wanted any strange humans using such familiarity with her---but the word "pet" had a whole different meaning in the Supernatural world and it wasn't a pleasant one.
Marina's question brought Trenton out of his thoughts. "I am looking for some herbs that I acquired some time ago. They diminish mental voices in someone's head," he responded. "Not that the herbs will completely block your intruder, but they should make it harder for him to get in," he continued. Okay, it might not be a perfect solution, but it was the best he could offer.

"Well, it helped him a little bit anyway. In the end it really didn't stop what happened..." she said softly as she blinked away a few tears and then scooted further onto his bed, wrapping herself up in the blankets as she shivered, "I don't know if its cold in here or I'm just creeped out by that weird voice in my head. I don't like it. I don't know who it is but he's not a nice person, Trent." she said softly as she sat there and shivered. She felt like someone had doused her in ice water and it made her uncomfortable.
She watched as he looked about for the herbs, her dark brown eyes showing curiosity even as she shivered under the blankets. She realized she was taking liberties but she was so cold she was shivering and needed to warm up without clinging to someone. Of course, Trent being a vampire meant he didn't have much body heat so it wouldn't do much good anyway... She hoped he wouldn't mind anyway. She figured it was the other person's presence she was reacting to and not anything in the room.

Trenton smiled a bit sadly as Marina admitted that her cousin's gift had helped some, but hadn't been enough to prevent his fate. "I am sorry, Bella," he told her honestly. At her statement that she wasn't sure if the room or cold or that she was just creeped out, he turned to her. "I do try to keep the house room temperature since we have reconnected, but I suppose I could have forgotten to turn it on today," he responded before turning back to his search. Now where were those herbs? He rummaged around the desk, going into some drawers. When he finally found what he was looking for, he let out a happy exclamation and took out the small jars. Now then, I need a glass of tea or something he thought to himself. Spelled herbs tended to have a bitter taste, no matter what they were and a beverage of some sort would help to mask the bitterness.
Trenton put the herbs on his dresser, went into the kitchen, grabbed a glass, going to the refrigerator and taking out a pitcher of sweet tea. Since he and Marina had reconnected, he had taken to stocking his cupboards and refrigerator with human food and drinks. He poured the tea into the glass and then came back into his room, where he crushed the herbs and stirred them into glass. Then, he turned to see that Marina had gotten underneath the covers of his bed. "Sorry, Bella. I must have forgotten to turn the heat on. I will check that in a moment," he promised. She looks good in my bed, he thought to himslef. Besides, it wasn't like he had never entertained the notion of getting her there himself.
Mentally throwing off these thoughts, he walked up to the bed and knelt down. "Here you are, Bella. The tea should mask some of the bitterness of the herbs, though I cannot promise it entirely," he told her, offering the glass.
